As with other local U3As, the members are residents of the area who wish to remain active and continue to learn during their retirement years. Social events include:

Monthly Meetings at which an outside speaker addresses an audience of U3A members at the Baptist Church, Wallingford, at 2.00pm on the third Wednesday each month.

Special Interest Study Groups  are an integral part of U3A activities and Thameside (Wallingford) U3A has over 25 such Groups. Members organise their own interest groups and pursue whatever studies or activities they choose. Studying without exams! The study groups (arts, sciences, languages, books etc.) meet in private homes and organise their own activities, outings or talks, whilst other groups meet to walk, study nature or practise creative arts. (Visit the Interest Group pages and look at the Diary).

Outings that are open to the whole Thameside (Wallingford) U3A membership are arranged on an monthly basis. These may be to famous country houses, estates and gardens, to places of special interest, to the theatre or to a concert.  There are also occasional visits abroad. (See the Outings Page).

Why 'Thameside'?
There is a separate, but closely related, 'Wallingford U3A' that is centred in Crowmarsh, Wallingford, and was established in 1983. This quickly reached capacity, and so a large waiting list built up. As a result a second U3A branch was formed taking the name Thameside (Wallingford) U3A. The two groups work closely together and sometimes share outings and activities. See Outings Page
