Thames Valley U3A Network
RIVERSIDE PROJECT

www.u3atvnetwork.org.uk

The U3A Thames Valley Network Riverside Project is an ambitious undertaking. It is a Network Collaborative Project.

Throughout 2010 and 2011, U3As have combined to walk and study the Thames Path and its environs and study/survey the river and riverside. Whilst walkers walk the Thames Path, other groups study aspects of the path and river environs that are of interest to them. Those involved could include photographers, bird watchers, walkers, historians, artists, naturalists - the potential list is almost endless - even quilters could get involved making a quilt of the Thames. These activities may give rise to studies in greater depth of particular aspects of the riparian landscape (e.g. river engineering, churches, watercraft, painting, flora and fauna, settlements, etc).

The project culminated in a 3 day residential Study School Riverside Revealed on 26-28 October 2011 at Wellington College, Crowthorn, Berkshire, to bring together all the results of the project.

STUDY DAY: DISCOVERING HISTORIC WALLINGFORD, 8 June 2011

Thameside Wallingford U3A  organised a very successful one-day event in Wallingford as part of the TVN Riverside Project. The programme was well attended by members from other U3As and was designed to provide an insight into the ‘hidden treasures’ of the ancient town.
